He's from an island and loves the snow!

Nu'u and I found something in common very early in our relationship that I knew would be a huge part of our lives, we LOVE the cold and being where there is snow. He got the chance to serve in Reno on his mission as it was still a part of the Las Vegas West mission until July after he went home when the mission split. So of course one of first plans for winter was the go snowboarding. My favorite thing to do for 9 years now!  The day after Christmas we left to our cabin in Duck Creek with Garin and Alex.  Travis and Reeds family were already up there enjoying the cold and snow! Friday me and the boys got the chance to just ride while Nu'u went down and took his last GED test. He passed his test with a way higher score than what he needed! So proud! So he came back up to pick us up and head back to the cabin. When we got back we were gonna go riding before realizing it was way too cold and there was no oil in the quads. Saturday we went back to the mountain and I spent

What a priceless time. Celebrating the birth of Christ by spending lots of time with family, laughing, sharing, and showing love to one another.  My first Christmas as a Pome'e was definitely one of my favorites. The last few years we've spent Christmas dinner at Aunt Lisa's house but this year they went to pick Ashley up from her study abroad program in Rome and got back only a few days before so we had Christmas dinner at my parents house. We had dads family there, our family there, Jackie Baldwin and the boys there and then the Lasike family! About 30 people over at my parents for Christmas and it was an absolute blast!  Nu'u and I woke up Christmas morning and opened our gifts. I hadn't gone to bed till 4:30 finishing my project for him. His missionary scrapbook. And seeing the look on his face when he finally saw it made it totally worth it! I had a buckle Christmas! I had sent Nu'u to buckle after I picked out 2 things he could buy me and when he went he d

My handsome furry friend is 2 years old! I have had this angel since he was 8 weeks old. The picture on the left was the day after I got him and the one on the right is on my 21 birthday when we were taking engagement pictures! This boy has been one of the best things to ever happened to me! He loves me uconidtionally and always cuddles with me when daddy is mad! He's been my best travel buddy, park buddy, hip candy, and friend to soccer games! I love this little man to pieces and can't believe he's 2! He's the smartest dog I've ever encountered. Most times too smart for his own good. He is obedience trained but still a puppy! Anyone who has seen him thinks he's the prettiest boy in the whole world! He's a Siberian husky and my best friend! Happy birthday Kona!

A new Christmas Eve tradition!

Yay to new smiles to replace such easy tears. Since Christmas Eve won't be spent at Grandma Call's anymore mom decided take over that tradition so when we have kids we will spend Eve at mom and dads and spend Christmas morning/day in our own home. This year it worked really well considering it's our first Christmas the change was actually adapted to very well. We went to mom and dad's for dinner then after opened our gifts from them. It was a good time and I truly can't wait till we have kids a few years down the road and get to keep up this tradition with them..yay for Christmas!

Cope and Whiskey <3

Skylar Alyse Peters is one of my bestfriends. Ryan Chen is one of my "little" brothers who's not so little. He found a puppy in a dumpster in Arizona where he attends college. When coming home for break he decided to bring the puppy home for Skylar. She named him Cope. Little did they both know, Cope was sick. Really sick. He stayed the first weekend at my house because Skylar was headed to California. He was tired all the time, didn't play much, he just wasn't very "puppy" like. When skylar got home she had him for a few days before noticing that it got worse. He had a dry nose. Started having small seizures. She took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with 4 different bacteriaa. That night when he got even worse she decided to take him back to the vet where he was diagnosed with distemper. The beginning of my best friends heart break. After 2 more short days Skylar took him back to the vet, the seizures became full body, he became unresponsive, thin

Nu'u and I decided (me more than him) before we were married to have a life long bucket list goal to attend every temple in the world! We've started on a few in the states already, of course attending Las Vegas most often. We have tried our best to attend the temple once a week since we've been married. And for the most part we have kept up with that. So our most recent and my favorite so far was the St George temple. This temples has probably been on the top of my list, from the outside, my whole life. Outside of Vegas this is the next closest temple to us and the one my parents were sealed in. I was so excited to finally get to attend. Not only attend but on a day that there was several inches of snow! Breaking records of over 150 years! It was absolutely amazing and beautiful!  The farthest temple we've attended so far is the Palmyra temple which was an absolutely AMAZING experience! Our whole family was there and it was beautiful. The next one on o

Bitter sweet Christmas celebration...

This is the first year we've been without grandma for Christmas. For as long as I've been alive (as long as I can remember) we have spent Christmas Eve at Grandma Call's house.  I am the youngest cousin on my moms side of the family so when I was younger we always did a program. We read the birth of Christ in the scriptures and acted it our dressed up in character. When I got a little older we would just read the story and grandma would have me sing a song. The last couple years we've made priceless memories. As my cousins have grown older, got married and had kids the spirit and fun that has been in that house has always been amazing.  Last year as we knew it was coming to the end of her life, as she'd been sick for quite a while, Christmas Eve was filled with reminiscing...some laughter and of course tears. We all took pictures with grandma which has been a tradition for years with that family, two weeks later she would pass. None of us knew that would be the last

And all the way to STATE we go...

This is kinda weird. The whole cheering for Gorman thing.....no matter where you go to school or what game you're watching, if you're not a Gorman Gael you hate them and cheer against them. The whole city. So I've always hated Gorman as I was a bulldog and graduated an Aggie.  So ever since being married to a Tongan I gained a ton more family than I ever even thought possible. Tongans everywhere are related. And no lie they pretty much can always find the relation. Somewhere. But anywhere counts!  The lasikes have been, by far, my favorite family to gain. They have 6 kids. The oldest off at college in Hawaii at BYUH but the 5 younger are at home. Sione, the next oldest, is a sophomore at Gorman and plays football. Ever since the season started we basically haven't missed a game. And somehow towards to end of the season I said to his little sister Sela, this place is really starting to grow on me. WHAT?!  BISHOP GORMAN? GROWING ON ME? Yeah it was really weird for me too.

Decorating for CHRISTMAS!

Image
This is our cute house with our truck, Kona, and our intelligent solution to not having a big ladder! hαhα  I absolutely love this time of year! Have I said that yet? Of course I have! NFL playoffs are just around the corner and I have to say......my Broncos are lookin pretty hot right now! Let's just hope they keep it up! :)  But what comes first? CHRISTMAS! And what's the most important part of Christmas? Well, Christ. Duh. But what's next? DECORATIONS! I love more than anything getting all festive for holidays and putting decorations up! So this is the first year I've ever had the opportunity and wanted to decorate my own living space. Usually it's helping mom with the tree and the boys are in charge of outside. This year is my first married and Nu'us first in the states. They don't really do Christmas in Tonga..so how perfect is this?  We had so much fun decorating outside together! We spent all day buying and setting up everything for outside. Tree shop

UTAH has my heart!

Image
Any chance I get to go to Utah I usually take. Over the course of about 2 1/2 years I mainly lived in Utah. I started school in St. George and lived there for 6 months. I took the summer off then moved up to Provo to finish school up north at a school called Elase Academy in Sourh Jordan. A few weeks ago we got the chance to travel up north and stay in Sandy. Nu'us cousin has been called to serve in Texas and since his brother lives in Salt Lake they let him come early and stay with him for a few days. He got in the Friday before he went in the MTC and we drove up Saturday night. Sunday we went out to Morgan and had dinner with some of their family. They roasted a pig and made all the Tongan stuff that goes with it. It was SO good!  Sunday night we spent with Tave and Fane and the Fiefia's! I LOVE that family.  They had a little FHE activity with everyone except a few people there. It was so much fun.  Monday we woke up a bit late and spent some time shopping! We went

It's been ONE whole year!

THE proposal!  A year ago I was in Tonga for the second time. It had been 11 LONG months since I had seen the man of my dreams with tremendous ups and downs along the way.  When I had returned home from Tonga in January we parted ways (up to me) for about 2-2 1/2 months. We didn't talk hardly at all. We weren't friends on Facebook which was our main form of communication at the time and I had continued dating my ex boyfriend again. As it came time to make some life changing decisions, I made an appointment with my bishop to sort some things out. It was mid June and I wasn't sure walking in what exactly I was going to say to Bishop. So I sat down and began talking with him. All of the sudden the words come out of my mouth with no second thought at all...."I am still in love with Pome'e and never stop thinking about him, I want to marry him" and my bishop said what? And I took a breathe and then realized what I just said and went what? Both of us sat ther

'Tis the S E A S O N.....

Anyone who knows anything about me knows two things for sure, I LOVE the cold, and I LOVE snowboarding! Guess what?! They're both officially back!  Snowboarding  is by far my favorite this about the cold and winter time but there are plenty other things I love about this season! I love wearing warm clothes and ALWAYS being comfy. When I was younger my dad would get mad at me when I wore hoodies in winter but I always went for comfort. And hoodies are always comfortable! Everyone who is human loves hot chocolate or some kind of traditional hot drink! Sweat pants? Hair tied? Chillin with no make up on? HEAVEN. I absolutely LOVE snow. Everything about snow. Playing in the snow. Riding on the snow. Waking up to snow. Driving through snow. And OF COURSE cuddling when it's snowing! Being married is by far my favorite thing in the whole world because I get to love all of these things with company now! And luckily, my husband, who was born and raised and only knew an island before his

OUR first Thanksgiving!

Image
Thanksgiving to a boy who served a mission in Las Vegas means Turkey Bowl and eating at like 10 different houses! So why change it? Nela mentioned to the elders quorum president at church the week before Thanksgiving about playing a Turkey Bowl game in the morning so a few days before he got an email that it was on! A first for our new ward and hopefully a new annual tradition! As long as we're in the ward it will be! So early morning on Thanksgiving Nela went to play flag football with the ward at a park near by while I got up and ready for the day. When I was ready I took Kona down to the park and let him play in the leaves for a little..... When he was done playing in the leaves he laid down and watched Nela play for a while like such a good boy... The boys got done playing shortly after and we headed home for Nela to shower. Uncle Coll invited him to help with preparing/cooking the food and told him to come early so our next stop was the Thomsons house! I dropped him off there
