It happened....

And it truly couldn't have gone better! I don't usually get nervous to sing the national anthem anymore. I've been singing it in rather large venues since I was 10. I barely even practice anymore! I sing it in the shower all the time so when I get a new "gig" it's always pretty fresh. I find that the more I practice the more nervous I get..so I don't.
Tuesday came around, the day I've dreamed of in my life for a long time. And some of you might say UNLV basketball? Why is that so special. But I have been watching those boys play since I was a toddler. My dad is UNLV Aliumni and LOVES basketball. For as long as I can remember my dad has bought season tickets and we've never missed a game. For the last couple years I have been trying to talk to the right person (because that's really what it's about) to sing in the arena that has basically raised me! So this year I finally did.
Every note that has ever made me (and anyone who sings) nervous came out as perfect and smooth as I could have ever imagined. I was more nervous than I'd ever been I will admit but still not over the top. I had my parents, best friend and her brother, a couple from our ward, Sione and my sweet husband there cheering me on. And of course all the people that were at the game anyway.....Scotty, Ben, Jim Barton, his kids....the list could go on.  All in all it was amazing. To finally feel the spotlight of the Thomas and Mack be on the jumbotron and light that place up! Chet told me when I got done "Loretta Lynn would be proud". WOW.
